The company is doing worse on this part because its turnover is almost two times less from industry average.it shows that the companys resources have not been properly utilized. Analysis and interpretation of balance sheet and income statement for Tanga cement. 1. Capital and reserves at first increased by 1.12% from 2006 to 2007, in the year 2008 it declined by 4.31%. This means that the company in 2008 was generating much loss that caused its reserve to decrease as well as capital which resulted to decrease in company wealth. 2. Investment in non current assets increased from 52.18% to 66.74 from 2006 to 2008. The investment done in the preceding years was beneficial to the company thats why the investment in 2008 declined because there was no need of investing much. 3. Current assets generally have been decreasing from 47.18% to 33.29% from 2006 to 2008. Cash and bank was decreasing from year to year this is a good sign since short term obligations such as current liabilities have been resolved by cash and bank. The company has no need of holding cash and bank while it needs to make profit using that money 3: LIMITATIONS ON FINANCIAL ANALYTICAL TOOLS USED When calculating the financial ratios, may find getting two types of answers. Some ratios might be good and some might be bad ratios compared to industry standard, which will make it difficult to judge if the company is I a good position or not. Financial ratios are giving the actual financial picture of the company whether the company is going at the right or wrong direction. These ratios do not give a solution of what to do if things go wrong. In analytical tools, the data which is used is only accounting data instead of economic data. In doing financial ratios analysis, data that is used are obtained from bank statement, balance sheet and cash flows of previous years. This shows that they are using historical data which is bad because they do not reflect the actual economic situation. In financial analysis ,data obtained cannot be used alone, the data obtained must be compared with other data so as to get actual interpretation Different accounting practices can di stort comparison even within the same company. A good example is one can use LIFO and one use FIFO; the answers will definitely be different. The set standard industry financial ratios are not authentic because the levels of business differ from place to place. A good example is on IT industry. Punk is written with a purpose. A message is behind every heartfelt yelp and strain of the vocal chords. Lyrically, it is about more than just a high school romance. It deals with real issues in an honest fashion. The punk movement began in England as a medium for overly zealous political patrons to preach their messages of anti-conformity and anti-government to the faithful gathered at their shows each night. In their first single, God Save The Queen, The Sex Pistols were telling the youth of England that the Queen was a fascist and inhuman. The Sex Pistols also reacted to the stark social conditions that infected Great Britain in the late seventies: rising unemployment, a hard-line, conservative government, and a depressed post-industrial economy. With a hopeless future at the horizon, the restless youth in Britain had plenty of things to get angry about. 03The Sex Pistols embodied the anger and restless ambition. The Ramones, The Clash, The Dead Kennedys and the other punk bands o f the late 1960s were all making their political claims. As time went on, there have always been punk bands to carry the torch. In recent years, bands like Angelic Upstarts, Drop Kick Murphy, Flogging Molly and Anti-flag have all had political messages. Labor in America The Industrial Revolution was dawning in the United States. At Lowell, Massachusetts, the construction of a big cotton mill began in 1821. It was the first of several that would be built there in the next 10 years. The machinery to spin and weave cotton into cloth would be driven by water power. All that the factory owners needed was a dependable supply of labor to tend the machines. As most jobs in cotton factories required neither great strength nor special skills, the owners thought women could do the work as well as or better than men. In addition, they were more compliant. The New England region was home to many young, single farm girls who might be recruited. But would stern New England farmers allow their daughters to work in factories? The great majority of them would not. They believed that sooner or later factory workers would be exploited and would sink into hopeless poverty. Economic "laws" would force them to work harder and harder for less and less pay. THE LOWELL EXPERIMENT How, then, were the factory owners able to recruit farm girls as laborers? They did it by building decent houses in which the girls could live. These houses were supervised by older women who made sure that the girls lived by strict moral standards. The girls were encouraged to go to church, to read, to write and to attend lectures. They saved part of their earnings to help their families at home or to use when they got married. The young factory workers did not earn high wages; the average pay was about $3.50 a week. But in those times, a half-dozen eggs cost five cents and a whole chicken cost 15 cents. The hours worked in the factories were long. Generally, the girls worked 11 to 13 hours a day, six days a week. But most people in the 1830s worked from dawn until dusk, and farm girls were used to getting up early and working until bedtime at nine o'clock. The factory owners at Lowell believed that machines would bring progress as well as profit. Workers and capitalists would both benefit from the wealth created by mass production. For a while, the factory system at Lowell worked very well. The population of the town grew from 200 in 1820 to 30,000 in 1845. But conditions in Lowell's factories had already started to change. Faced with growing competition, factory owners began to decrease wages in order to lower the cost--and the price--of finished products. They increased the number of machines that each girl had to operate. In addition, they began to overcrowd the houses in which the girls lived. Sometimes eight girls had to share one room. In 1836, 1,500 factory girls went on strike to protest wage cuts. (The girls called their action a "turn out.") But it was useless. Desperately poor immigrants were beginning to arrive in the United States from Europe. To earn a living, they were willing to accept low wages and poor working conditions. Before long, immigrant women replaced the "Yankee" (American) farm girls. To many people, it was apparent that justice for wage earners would not come easily. Labor in America faced a long, uphill struggle to win fair treatment. In that struggle, more and more workers would turn to labor unions to help their cause. They would endure violence, cruelty and bitter defeats. But eventually they would achieve a standard of living unknown to workers at any other time in history. The sharing of joy, whether physical, emotional, psychic, or intellectual, forms a bridge between the sharers which can be the basis for understanding much of what is not shared between them, and lessens the threat of their difference. In our work and in our living, we must recognize that difference is a reason for celebration and growth, rather than a reason for destruction. If our history has taught us anything, it is that action for change directed against the external conditions of our oppressions is not enough. But we will, if we mistake the trappings of success in a sick society for the signs of a meaningful life. If black men continue to do so, defining femininity in its archaic European terms, this augurs ill for our survival as a people, let alone our survival as individuals.
